We had a bit of a lazy weekend, what with the rain and all. But that doesn't mean we ignored the details. Sundays for us mean something delicious in the morning ( we don't tell anyone if it's actually afternoon), catching up on reading/home improvement and admiring some fresh blooms. Sometimes, we pick up "something nice" as well, like this minty green scarf ( a budget friendly substitute for this mint sweater at the moment).
Whether or not you're a fan of the shoes and jewels, the brand that brought us collaborations with the likes of the Olsen Twins and Rachel Bilson, is introducing a new club type shopping experience to the line: HomeMint.
Currated in partnership btwn Justin Timberlake (Hello, what does he have to do with home decor, anyway? I mean we get what Ms. Bilson has to do with shoes, duh. But Mr. music? hmm) and Estee Stanley ( interior designer and celebrity stylist), we're curious to see what they have in-store. The site and collection, set to launch May 9th, promises an amalgamation of luxury home goods from stunning artwork to elegant dinnerware, one-of-a-kind furniture, and décor sourced from Morocco and Turkey. From the little glimpse we got on their site, we're intrigued.
And, they're sweetining the pot for checking them out pre launch:
Up until May 9th, you can to enter for a chance to score either the grand prize (a trip for one, including airfare and two nights of hotel accommodation, to meet Timberlake and Stanley in person; an interior design consultation with Stanley; and $10,000 worth of credit to spend on HomeMint) or one of five second place prizes (a piece of limited-edition HomeMint art).
We admit, we live in a farm town. It's not always (dare we say) the most fashion forward of places, but we do have one of the nation's ( if not the nation's) best farmer market. This past weekend marked the first gathering of the season and caught us lusting after fresh summer dishes, dresses and days out in the sun.
To celebrate the warm weather and upcoming market season, we assembled a casual ( read: looked like you just "threw" something on) market look ( still a little too chilly for this weekend's browsing) for those Saturday mornings spent savoring a sweet bakery treat while perusing for the perfect accouterments for the evenings meal. Ah Madison, we love thee - especially since this fabulous bag and maxi dress hail from two local haunts!
This weekend, we did a little vintage hunting, relaxing and of course yard grooming/home DIY-ing. This led to the creation of a lovely homemade sunburst mirror, the likes of which we have been lusting over for ages. And, thanks to our friend, Pinterest, ideas are never far from short supply.
Using wooden craft sticks (you could use paint sticks too), a circular mirror, spray paint, and a hot glue gun, this beauty now compliments our bare entry way for a mere $15 ( and could be done cheaper, if your willing to pilfer enough paint stir sticks from the local hardware store)! We were too scared!
Layering black spray paint over with silver, gave it this nice silverish gray tone. It took a bit of experimenting ( we even dug out our old trusty protractor), but think it turned out quite nicely, yeah?
Hope you all had a great weekend. Here's to a fashionable and fabulous week ahead!
No look is complete without a little spritz of something nice on the way out the door. It's your signature, a reflection of your mood. We never feel completely ready, or at our best with out a little something behind the ear. We're currently loving Prada's newest Iris scent (behind miss Chanel No. 5, below). We sort of have a thing for fragrance and pretty bottles. Can you tell?
And while the weather may tease us with getting nicer, our skin is still feeling a bit dry. Enter one of our new favorite products, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense. A little dab'll do ya in the evening and will still leave your skin feeling plump in the am. It also seems to work as a great make-up primer for your foundation etc. And, you can't go wrong with this pretty pastel pink jar, now can you?
We hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend! Complete with a little spa time and delicious eats ( see The Blood Orange Fizz, cocktail recipe below), this perfect weekend was punctuated by the fact that we were able to wear high heels AND break out one of our favorite printed frocks (without freezing to death or experiencing any knee pain), yeah! Full of blooms and a little DIY, here are a few style snap shots ( and a great recipe) from the weekend. At left, one of our favorite blooms, a few white hydrangea's.
