count down

It's been a week of counting down, of a little me time and a lot of "something nice." For the past week it was nice to relax at the spa, curl up with a good book and literally do nothing, while reflecting and putting a close on our 20s (although to be fair, we didn't quite accomplish the "nothing" on the list;  there's always something to be doing, something to be done!)

Ushering in a renewed sense of self, we look forward to what tomorrow and the next 30 years will bring. A few snapshots from our last days as a 20-something... ( and the promise of some fabulous fashion to come)

Our first macarons ( yes, delicious and just the right size)

So delicious, we had to post another pic....

Caught up on a little reading

and decided it was time to start taking a bit better care of our skin (among other things!)

Here's to the end of a wonderful week, and the start of our next fabulous "30s" chapter!

spotlight on zara home

With all the buzz about Zara home late last week, we had to do a pull of some of our faves. Launching into the world of eComm just last year ( or was it earlier?), we have to say, well done Zara, well done. Purveying an array of lovely things to outfit the bedroom, bath, kitchen and everything in between, below, we chose a few nice things from the Spanish retailer, er, etailer to feature

Isn't this tea light holder neat?

Always a sucker for lovely smelling satchels.

 love us some lucite tables.

A nice little vase.

Another lovely little vase.  Love this crackle.

 Great accent mirror.

These knobs might just be perfect for our dresser re-do.
We love lanterns, but can never quite figure out what to do with them.

Another great knob of the mirrored variety.

Fabulous tray, of course.
 Love these elephant bookends.

A little luxurious jar.
How cute is this birdcage tea light holder?
 A pretty soap (potion) dispenser.
Love the design of this frame.

On the wish list for the guest room!

tis the season

for bountiful harvest. Yes, our last post was much ado about pumpkins and the like, but we did a bit more harvesting, creating and baking ourselves this weekend and wanted to share it with you all. It is our favorite month after all. While we love a spooky jack-o-lantern, we decided to try our hand at painting the orange orbs this fall, and think we were quite successful ( although don't try this with latex paint, we learned the hard way ( as with most things)! ( Not to worry, we promise more apparel musings soon).

What's your favorite thing about fall?

the little things

As we approach the big 3-0 (later this month...eee!) - we're constantly reminded how much the little things really make us happy. Ever stressing that our home, our closet, our job etc. is never just quite right, we took the time to really take a look around and document a few things we love about our home, and what makes it, well...home. Our camera and photography skills need some work, but hopefully with a little practice and some new equipment, we'll get there. We're ending the evening with a very positive outlook!

Appropriately, we start out with the la machine de caffeine. Not used as often as we'd like, but don't worry, we make sure to get our fix through other means

Books are our best friends... and Vogue. Of course.

An attempt at a little flair for the entry way, with a terrarium done by yours truly

Pull back to reveal a table that's clean ( for this pic only) and some family photos...

More essential reading material

We love trays, perfume and mirrors. Oh and No 5.

The guest room headboard, we decided they get the prettier of the two

A stack of ideas, words and pretty things

Tray filled with something nice

Another tray of sorts. Bedside elixirs, lotions and potions.

Last, but certainly not the least, a color coordinated and organized closet
( although these could use some breathing room and better organization)

What do you love about your home?
